"After hiking through the Pyrenees - cold, wet, blustery, muddy - I made my descent into a field that I will never forget...what unfolded was an expanse of golden wheat and swaying poppies as far as the eye could see. It was timeless, glowing & warm. This is the scene that I sketched in my notebook and the one that inspired this painting of Spanish poppy fields."
Working from sketches made on the trip, I describe not only what things looked like, but also how it felt to be there in that moment of respite & reflection.
